We are Charlie and Debbie Lucero and it is nice to meet you! We grew up in Alamosa Colorado and moved to Arizona in 1982. We have been married for 37 years and have two grown children; Charles and Candice. We are blessed with 3 grandchildren; Ryan, Riley and Caleb.
Although raised Catholic, Charlie did not come to have a personal relationship with Jesus until 1999. Once he had committed himself to the Lord he was on fire to serve Him. We took the World Wide Perspectives class and it had a life changing effect on our attitudes and beliefs about serving our great God.
Charlie has 24 years in the propane industry and for the last several years the Lord has been training him as a Chef doing banquets and special events at Grace Church of East Mesa where he served as a Deacon of Fellowship and later an Elder.
I have 20+ years experience in the business world as a manager, controller and most recently as a Director of Finance. I served at Grace Church of East Mesa as a Deaconess, member of the Missions’ committee and Charlie’s “gopher” in the kitchen.
Charlie first visited Arizona Reservation Ministries in Globe as a member of the missions committee for Grace Church of Mesa, researching short-term opportunities for the church. We then served on two short-term trips to Globe and were touched by the San Carlos Apache people and the missionaries who served there.
On our last trip, we saw a real need that we could fill. ARM had recently lost their cook and the director was trying to fill the gap herself. Both Charlie and I recognized God’s call for him to assist during this time. Charlie volunteered to spend the month of April 2008 cooking for the various volunteer work teams that were coming.
I took a week off of work and helped in the kitchen and spent time on the kid’s bus ministry. God quickly made it apparent that this was the calling we had been waiting and praying about for over the last 18 months. It was definitely a “God thing”; the staffing needs were for a cook and an accountant (us) and the ARM wish list included all of the equipment we purchased for the catering business we were going to start. We loaded up the equipment and installed it in the ARM kitchen and Charlie hasn’t left.
We are currently trying to raise support and sell our house in Mesa, Arizona. Charlie is on staff full time at Globe and I will join him as soon as the Lord permits. I go up to Globe on the weekends and help in the kitchen or any way I can. My heart’s desire is to join Charlie at ARM full time as soon as possible.
We are still working to meet our financial goals and are in need of monthly support and one-time donations. If you would like to help in this way, please make all checks payable to Arizona Reservation Ministries and include a small note stating the funds are for Charlie and Debbie Lucero. All contributions are tax deductible and can be sent to:

Please pray for us!
•Pray for the Lord to guide every step we make in this transition. His timing- not ours..
•Pray that we will be able to raise the remaining support we need.
We have 75% of our need already! •Pray that our house will sell for a fair price soon. •Pray for our marriage to remain centered in Christ during this temporary time of separation. •Pray that we will be a blessing to the San Carlos Apache people and the ARM staff.
Special Needs:
Gas cards to help give relief to the travel cost required between Globe and Mesa.
We are in the process of beginning construction on a home on ARM’s 45 acres so that we can also serve as caretakers of that property. Please pray for the funds and laborers to complete our new home as quickly as possible.
